It is working, but the other sprite is covering up the pen drawing. I see that on the first sprite, you have a background under the text, so removing the background should fix the problem. Moving sprites forward or backward of sprites won't help because the pen drawings are always on the same layer as the backdrop, meaning all sprites obscure it.
